OPEN SOURCE · MERGED JULY 2026
Codex CLI support and more focused reviews.
I contributed seven commits to Sensei, an open-source review tool. The pull request records the exact changes, discussion, tests, and merge history.
Broaden the AI CLI workflow
The change added a shared AI CLI runner for Codex, Claude, and automatic provider selection with fallback. It also added configuration and command improvements, including sensei use, sensei set-ai, sensei doctor, and one-off backend overrides for review and learn commands.
Make reviews more focused
The review path lowered Codex reasoning effort, skipped full generated-file context, and limited large-file context to the area around changed hunks. The pull request also expanded repository instruction loading to include AGENTS.md and CODEX.md, with structured-output handling and tests for Codex review parsing.
Verification and source
The pull request records a pytest run and a dry-run review against a GitLab merge request. It was merged into the project on July 1, 2026.
The work in context
The result gives Sensei users another choice of AI CLI and a review path that concentrates on the changed code. The linked pull request shows exactly what was merged.
