Push the request queue past capacity and see how many requests finish before their deadline.
TrySet Arrival rate λ to ~30 req/s, then compare Goodput with Shedding off and on.
Watch forHold load steady. Compare Goodput after the backlog settles; Reseed resets.
Synthetic model of this capability; it does not recreate production.
Skill practicedKeep useful requests moving when demand exceeds capacity
Connection to my workNeuralEye uses asynchronous video jobs; this model explores how queue limits and deadlines affect synthetic requests.
This finite-server teaching model uses stochastic arrivals and service, parallel workers, a bounded FIFO waiting queue and client deadlines. Push offered load past configured capacity and compare completed throughput with useful goodput. The rejected-arrivals metric includes both threshold-based shedding and arrivals dropped when the finite waiting room is full. It is a simplified queue model, not a measured production service.
The queue processes admitted requests in FIFO order. A request can still consume service after its client deadline expires; that completion adds throughput but not goodput. The finite waiting room can reject an arrival at capacity even when shedding is off; the shedding control adds an earlier, deliberate admission threshold. The rejection metric combines both causes. Changing a control does not clear queued requests or chart history; Reseed starts a fresh run with the current settings. Its capacity line is a service-rate reference, not an SLO; a real SLO also needs a latency or error objective.
NeuralEye uses asynchronous GPU workflows to process video jobs. Drawing on that systems work, this separate teaching model lets me explore adjacent overload concepts: admission control, deadlines, retries, and useful goodput. Those policies, workers, and traffic are synthetic; they are not documented NeuralEye production behavior or measurements.

The simulation just (re)started — give it a moment to reach steady state before reading the numbers below.
Stages advance at 0, 5, 10, and 15 seconds. Stop the sequence or change a control to take over.
